Just Thinking Out Loud Here....

Hi guys,
From abjectbirth Etsy shop:

The semester is winding down and I'm finding myself (at least this weekend) with a bit more free time on my hands than I've had in well, months.  It is almost like I don't know what to do with myself!  Sure, I still have 3 novels to read and a presentation to prepare, and a project to set up...  but I am somehow not feeling so heavy or taxed right now.  So, what does that mean?  It means I'm thinking a little bit about things not completely related to school.

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your continued support of my going back to school.  I am about halfway through my program now!  My YA Lit class is just about over....  for those of you who are not into YA Lit at all, thank you for being patient with all these YA reviews.  Those are not over yet - I am currently scheduled well into January 2014.  BUT I will start reading and reviewing from all genres and styles again very soon.  Once I start reading those (and I have a few incredible titles already in my possession!) I'll start weaving those in between the YA reviews already scheduled.  For those of you who are very much into YA Lit - if you ever get to take even just one class - do it!  It will really open your eyes and your mind!  While I have always enjoyed YA Lit, I am thinking about it in a different way now...  I might even like it more now.  But I miss my classics and "adult" titles too, so I don't think I'll ever be a strictly-YA reader or reviewer.

That said, I'm thinking about making some changes here on the blog.  I think I want to split the "Reviews by Genre" page into two pages - one for Adult and one for Young Adult/Middle Reader/Children's.  Some titles will probably show up in both places...  but I think that splitting it will make books easier to find if you are browsing the lists.  I also need to break up some of the categories, especially where it comes to YA.  This will obviously take a while to do, so I'll probably start during the semester break in December.  But while I'm doing that anyway, do you have any suggestions for changes I could make here?

Now for the biggest change:  I don't think I'm going to host the Back to the Classics Challenge next year.  My heart just isn't into it and I'm barely paying attention to it.  That isn't fair to those of you who are really going for it, you know?  Instead, I am going to try and participate as much as I can with The Classic Club's 12 Months of Classic Literature 2014 project.  Check it out, see what you think about that as a substitution, and maybe I'll see your links over there next year!  That said, if one of you would like to take over the Challenge, please let me know and I'd be happy to endorse you as the new host and help out as needed to get you started.

OK, this ended up being a lot longer than I expected!

**I just ordered the shirt pictured at the top of the page.  I haven't gotten yet, obviously, but don't you just love the design?  Can't wait to wear it!  Click the link if you'd like one too - I am not getting any sort of commission or anything on this, I'm just excited about it :)

I'm so glad you're enjoying library school! I loved it. I'll be sorry to see your challenge go, but I'm already planning on doing the CC event and maybe you can get back to it someday. :)

Thanks Jean! And you're right... maybe after a year off, I'll find that I really miss it and bring it back!

I'm probably crazy, but I'm seriously thinking about volunteering to take over the Back to the Classics Challenge next year. What do I need to do?
