Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon Master Post

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon is one of the first I'd ever done, and my favorite to do time and time again.  I haven't been able to participate in the fall readathons for the past few years due to school - and I usually ended up having to work on top of it all.  BUT NOT THIS TIME!  I'm in and I can't wait.

I'm not setting any sort of special goal - I just want to read all freaking day.  That's it.

Oh, and can I just mention that my kids are visiting their grandfather for the weekend and my husband is working today??  Just me and books....

I'll post my progress here in 4 hour increments, and keep a running total of sorts at the bottom of this post.

Best of luck and lots of fun to my fellow readers!

8 am:  Let's Go!

12 noon:  Figured I'd update now, as I'm taking a lunch break.  I read Lumberjanes Vol 2: Friendship to the Max first, and holy crap is that a fun comic!  I started that last readathon with Volume 1, so it seemed perfect.  Then I read a couple chapters from my book club book (The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe).  It's not a great readathon book, in my opinion, but I have to read it by Wednesday - so I'll keep going back to it during the day.  I also started George by Alex Gino - a middle grade novel about a trans kid.  I'm really into it, and will finish before reading anything else for sure.  Hope everyone else is doing great and having fun too!

4 pm:  Alright, 8 hours in!  I finished George - what a wonderful book.  I also read another chunk of my book club book, took a shower, and started in on Brian Selznick's The Marvels.  The mailman brought me a package from a book blogger swap that I am in too!  Its such a great package - Emma by Jane Austen and Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, a well as 3 fall scented candles (I'm already burning one), a fun card and Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - my favorite!  Time to tuck back in with The Marvels as I think the husband and I might go out for dinner later.

9 pm:  Half way mark (plus 1 hour)  This was a tough stretch for reading....  I took a little nap and then the husband and I went out to dinner at one of our favorite pubs.  It's kind of a big deal that the kids are away without us, you know?  But I did get more than halfway through The Marvels before we went.  I have sugary snacks at the ready now though!!

12 midnight:  Well, I went ahead and finished the book club book.  Not my favorite read, but at least I finished it before our meeting on Wednesday!  I have to admit that I am fading fast, and think I'm moving this readathon to my bed... but I will bring Saga Vol. 4 with me.

4 am:  (Awake?  Sleeping?)  I made it to 1:30am and then fell asleep.  I did read Saga Vol. 4 first though!  I love that comic.

8 am:  Finish Line!  I woke up just after 7am and immediately started reading.  I read another 80 or so pages of The Marvels by Brian Selznick before the official end of readathon.  I still have 165 pages or so to go, but I'll finish that today for sure.  All in all, a very successful readathon!

Books completed:  The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe (2nd half), Lumberjanes Vol. 2: Friendship to the Max by Noelle Stevenson, George by Alex Gino, Saga Vol. 4 by Brian Vaughan
