Reading Year in Review: 2015
GoodReads Challenge: Won! I spent the first four months of the year in school, so I kept my goal low - Read 100 books this year. I ended up reading 118 for a total of 31,752 pages. I am very happy with that! I think I'll raise the goal slightly for next year as I'm no longer in school BUT I'm planning on reading several longer classics, so... we'll see how I make out with a goal of 125 books for the year.
The TBR Pile Reading Challenge: SO CLOSE!! I read 11/12 books (or 11/14 if you count the two alternates - of which I read both!). I don't think I've done this well on this challenge in years, which is awesome. However, Adam is not going to host this again next year (he's got his doctoral dissertation to write and defend!). But Andi at Estellasrevenge had this great idea - the #ReadMyOwnDamnBooks "challenge" for 2016. I have too many books sitting on my TBR bookcase (and I'm going to ALA Midwinter next week!) so my focus will really be to read my own damn books! I have worked in a loophole to purchase new books again, once I've read a certain amount of books off my shelves.
Back to the Classics Challenge: 7/12 read, so technically a win definitely read some good classics this year. Not nearly enough, of course but I'm happy with what I was able to read. My favorite was probably And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
What's in a Name? 6/6 - Win! This has always been a fun little challenge, but I think I'm all set with it for next year. I'm not even sure the host will be doing it again anyway....
PopSugar's 2015 Reading Challenge: 41/50 Not fully completed, but I'm happy with it! I enjoyed it enough to try it again next year. They have changed up the categories, and reduced the total number as well. I'm looking forward to it!
My 50 States Challenge: 27/50 This is just something I track on my own, just to see how it plays out. Next year I'll track states and countries outside the US as I found myself a little frustrated by not keeping track this year.
The Classics Club: 33/50 read My first end date is coming up in March 2017, so I need to get going on my last 17 books!
1001 Books: 79 read, or 4 read this year Not too bad, but I think I'll make a big jump in those numbers next year with the classics!
So that's pretty much it.... How did you do? How did your reading inform how you want to read next year?
