Book Review: "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and other concerns)" by Mindy Kaling

I first became aware of Mindy Kaling back when The Office was on the air, just like many of you (I'm guessing).  I thought she was adorable and hilarious and I just loved her.  I loved her more when I found out she was a writer for the quirky and funny show).  I know she's had her own show since then, but unfortunately I don't really watch TV anymore.  So I haven't seen it.  I have wanted to read her book, though, since it first came out.  I finally bought a copy at the library book sale last year - and now I've finally read it.  (Yay #readmyowndamnbooks!)  This is perfect since her second book has recently been published.

In this book, Kaling reflects on her childhood, her college years, her life in New York City as well as Los Angeles and working on The Office.  She writes as if she's having a conversation with the reader; as if we were hanging out together and she was telling me stories of her life.  This would probably be enhanced had I listed to the audiobook version.

She is also quite funny!  I think I had a smile on my face while reading the whole book.  Which was great, because I was in serious need of a light, fun book.  She is also quite intelligent, driven, and has worked quite hard for her successes.  Now I'm looking forward to reading her next book!!

The bf is reading this and he's constantly giggling to himself. It's very distracting when I'm trying to read something else, but it makes me happy he's reading too :-D
