Book Review: "The Office Adventure" by Mike MacDonald and Jilly Gagnon

How much did you love to read those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books as a kid?  They were awesome, weren't they?  In fact, I still get excited about them when I see kids checking them out at the library.  I know they are going to have so much fun reading it and that makes me so happy!

My co-worker showed me this book the other day, and I got that same excited feeling.  Because this is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book for ADULTS!  Of course, we're adults, so it's called "Choose Your Own Misery", but it reads the same.

The premise here is that you have a major hangover and it is a work day.  You've already used up almost all of your vacation and sick days.  What do you do?

I played along and read through several different scenarios and, well...  I ended up in a strip club, I got fired, I got promoted, I got punched, and I got drunk again.  I know I'm going to read through more and other crazy things will happen that I won't be expecting and its going to be awesome.  I found myself doing what I did as a kid - flipping through pages until I found a familiar one and then took off from there, making another choice.  Maybe that's cheating a little, but I don't really care.

This was just a fun little diversion that can be distract you for five minutes, or you can dive in and spend as much time as you have choosing how the story will play out, over and over again.

Go ahead, relive your childhood again - but in an adult environment!  And get ready - this is the start of a series!

Oh, my! This does sound funny, even though I haven't worked in an office for a while now!
